[shakes her head, she didn't mean to imply that - though, maybe she did]
Quit over-thinking it. You and me... we're something all right.
Yeah, she's only recently figured out how to do it. It's just a long process.
--
What are we, exactly? Just so I don't have to over-think anything.
--
Exactly? I don't think there is an exactly to us.
[have a pause -- and a bit of dialog to boot]
Raylan, sometimes... I look at you and I never want to see you again.
--
As long as there's an us, maybe there doesn't have to be an exactly.
[Pauses to listen, pauses longer. It stings but he can't say he's never felt the same way.]
There was a time I did my damndest to make sure that's exactly what happened. It's still an option, if that's what you really want. You can go back to Gary and pretend like none of this ever happened. 'Sat what you want?
[He'd do it, if she said yes. But it's clear that's not what he wants her to say, underneath the surface.]
--
[she'll keep quiet for a bit, shaking her head]
Right now -- I'm not really sure what I want.
--
[He closes the distance between them a bit;]
That makes one of us.
--
[Well, hello, Marshal Givens...]
Raylan, you can't make it that simple.
--
[Not backing down just yet]
Why not?
--
Because, we've never had anything be simple between us. We can't just start now.

He could feel the heat of their skin, the sweat making their bodies slick, soon to be cooling in the air of the room. Raylan turned his head, desperately seeking her mouth as the surge of his orgasm started to wane, wanting to kiss her lazily while he rocked against her a bit more. He wanted the moment to draw out as long as possible.

She could own his body any time, and probably vice versa. But what he wanted was her heart, because she'd never really left his.

Her motions slowed, easing to something more akin to a gentle shift, just settling against him not even wanting him to part from her. Fingers drifted against his side, slipping between their chests so that the tips could press to his chest, just resting there, giving her something else to feel. She wanted to feel his heart beating as hard and constant as hers was.
Shutting her eyes, she broke from his mouth with a sigh. Forehead resting to his, she let her eyes open. Her focus pulled slightly before her vision adjusted, watching him for a brief moment before her nose brushed softly against his. That soft non-verbal gesture of adoration that she had missed, bringing an ache to her chest that she hadn't quite prepared for.

I love you
If only time didn't exist, so he could lay here with her forever. His body began to calm, his heart finally starting to beat at a normal rate. He moved again, slowly raising his hips so he could separate their bodies long enough to try and roll them over on their sides without their legs being in a tangle. Drowsiness was starting to creep up on him, and he wanted to drift off with her in his arms, passing the nights like they used to together.

She took a deep breath, exhaling it slowly as her fingers trailed over his arm seeking out his fingers as she eased in beside him. Her foot, where once only toes pressed, slid between his legs, tangling against him just to assure herself that whatever connection she'd lost in their parting -- she'd regain in slumber.

It had been a while since he'd been able to just sit and take her all in, skin flushed and lips swollen. She really was beautiful like this, eyes full of a warmth he'd missed at his core. He smiled softly, amazed at how fate seemed to work, and not taking one second of it for granted.

After a moment, she leaned in closer to him, a soft kiss brushing to his lips. Barely a hint of contact, but enough to make her smile. She settled against the pillow beside him, her fingers brushing to his hair for a moment before she let it rest to her hip lightly. Content to just watch him until her eyes wouldn't stay open any longer.

This content moment, this perfect quiet, she'd missed it so much and even if she was only to have it for this one night, she wasn't going to forget.
